The KIOSK EDITIONS project started in Romania in September 2006, having as a model the initiative of the Italian newspaper Corriera della Serra: selling low-cost, but quality editions of books, together with the newspaper, one day in a week.
In the summer of 2006 we proposed one similar project to several Romanian daily newspapers and COTIDIANUL reacted very fast and in a positive way to this proposal. On September 13th 2006 the first book of our collection of kiosk editions, LA VIE DEVANT SOI (THE LIFE IN FRONT OF YOU) by Romain Gary, appeared in a print-run of 20,000 copies and was preceded by a big TV advertising campaign.
The price of this first title was 0,80 Euros. It has been sold out in a few hours, and the print-run of the second title increased to 25,000, then the collection stabilized at 50,000 copies per issue, although the price increased to 1,2 Euros.
Until now Univers sold more than 1,8 millions copies of its 39 titles of the kiosk editions collection of fiction, and meanwhile started a new kiosk collection, DECOUVERTES – UNIVERS,  an art/science/civilizations illustrated collection of  the same format as our fiction kiosk editions, under GALLIMARD license.
The success of the first 7 titles of DECOUVERTES UNIVERS was so huge, that the newspaper decided to continue both collections for another year.
